Changes to Jumbo Images

As of Catalog Update 224, the DVDR2 web server is hosting 86,356 Jumbo images. The number of Jumbo images is expanded to three per title, a front cover, back cover, and gate cover.  The gate may alternatively be an perspective image of the package or a dual front/back image.  The screen picture below shows the jumbo image link in the disc details page of the user catalog:

The code in the URL (FBG) indicates that a Jumbo front cover (F), back cover (B), and gate cover (G) are available.  The jumbo link is also available in the Reference Catalog Disc Details page.  For example (F) would indicate that only a front cover is available and (G) would indicate that only a gate image is available.

I consider an image to be a Jumbo image if the image width in pixels exceeds approximately 700.

With Catalog Update 224, I have added to the web server approximately 30,000 jumbo laser disc covers that I personally photographed between 2000 and 2007.  The jumbo LD images are in the original resolution of the digital camera that I was using.  These LD cover images are very large files in some cases > 1 megabyte in size.  Therefore the jumbo pages may load slowly into the browser.
