A new reference catalog update is available for the DVD Register (DVDCAT278.mdb). This new update covers titles generally issued between November 15, 2017 and December 16, 2017. This catalog now includes 22.051 Blu-Ray titles, 555 BD 3D and 270 BD-UHD (4K). New cover art images added in this update include 1,378. New Jumbo images this month include 1,186. 4 movies were knocked off the "LD Only" list this month.
Added Languages with Update 278: Tracking the recent trend in designations for DVD/BD dub/sub dialects, the following language designations were added or modified:
Spanish (Latin America)
Spanish (Castilian) (formerly just Spanish)
Portuguese (Brazil)
Chinese (Simplified)
French (Quebec)
English (SDH)
Back Catalog Improvements with Update 278: New cover art was added for Laser Discs including 102 new images. New back catalog Blu-ray cover art was added for 590 back-cover images.
Capabilities/Characteristics with Update 278: "Dolby Vision" was added to the list of capabilities/characteristics in the "Mastering" category. Dolby Vision provides greater picture dynamic range relative to the initial Blu-ray UHD specification. Includes both a larger color space (12 versus 10 bits) and greater range of picture brightness.
Capabilities/Characteristics Report: A new report was added to the DVDR2.0 service that provides a text listing of the titles that contain a specific capability/characteristic. The columns in the report follow the columns defined in the "Custom Disc List" report. The Acrobat (PDF) report is invoked from a button on the top of the "Catalog Home > View Discs > by Capability/Characteristic > ....." details page.
